Metepenagiag Lodge & Heritage Exhibit

In ancient times, our ancestors established a village where the Little Southwest and the Northwest Miramichi Rivers meet.  The village was called Metepenagiag and here, for nearly 3000 years, generation after generation flourished.  Today, we the Mi’kmaq people of Metepenagiag (Red Bank), have not forgotten our ancestors or our deep bond with the Miramichi River.  Our Heritage Exhibit, housed at Metepenagiag Outdoor Adventure Lodge, brings our history to life.  Learn about our nationally recognized heritage sites, the Oxbow and the Augustine Mounds.  The exhibit is open year round and staffed by certified Mi’kmaq cultural interpreters.  Come and discover the community where hospitality was invented.
